Tyketto have released the video for their new single ‘Closer To The Sun’, the title track of their upcoming studio album, which arrives this Friday, March 20, via Silver Lining Music.

The song is a wistful, ethereal piece built around the allure of a free-spirited soul whose carefree outlook on life inspires both admiration and deep introspection.

Vocalist and founding member Danny Vaughn has described the track as rooted in fantasy, drawing inspiration from Kate Hudson’s iconic portrayal in the film Almost Famous.

“‘Closer To The Sun’ is a bit of a fantasy piece, really,” Vaughn explains. “I was thinking about Kate Hudson’s character in the film ‘Almost Famous’. I think we have all known someone like that growing up, someone that laughs at life, lives just a little outside of the norm and sometimes seems to float through the world. What does she know that I don’t know?”

“The singer has caught a glimpse of this woman and has fallen deeply in love, despite knowing almost nothing about her. What if I’m missing something in my own life? What if?”

The video was directed by Andy Pilkington at Very Metal Art. It follows two previous singles from the record – ‘Higher Than High’ and ‘We Rise’ – both of which had videos directed and edited by Scott Wardell and filmed by Paul Hollingsworth.

Tyketto’s current lineup sees Vaughn joined by Harry Scott Elliott on guitar, Ged Rylands on keyboards, Chris Childs (Thunder) on bass, and Johnny Dee (Doro) on drums – a collective that brings exceptional musicianship and considerable energy to the new material.

Closer To The Sun was recorded across multiple studios in the UK and Europe, including Flip Flop Studios and the legendary Rockfield Studios in Wales.

The album has already generated strong praise from across the rock press. HeadBangers LifeStyle called it “a fine and enduring album”, noting that Vaughn’s voice “has matured naturally over the years and is the beacon on which this album thrives.” Rock Tribune declared that it “grips you and doesn’t let go”, while MusiX praised it as “arena rock material with epic tracks and ballads” and recommended it “for the very largest rock audience.”

Rock Candy highlighted the band’s gift for melody, saying the “beautifully crafted tracks offer exactly what any fan of Tyketto wants”, and Break Out described the record as “a symbiosis of early Tyketto vibes and a clear statement for the here and now.”
