The album was produced by Grammy-winning Jason Perry, whose credits include The Molotovs, McFly and Don Broco. It buzzes with energy as Corella’s songwriting and musicianship are taken to grand new heights, while the themes cover loss, heartbreak and disillusionment, tracking a generation’s frustration and apathy over the things that are out of our control.

Those ideas come through strongly in the new single “What’s The Use,” a dark, anthemic track that questions whether the world’s relentless quest for greatness is worth the pain of getting there.

“We really leaned into the emotional honesty of this track. It explores the pressure of chasing something bigger while questioning whether it’s all really worth it, capturing those moments of self-doubt and quiet reflection we all experience,” said frontman Joel Smith.

“At its core, it’s about feeling stuck between ambition and acceptance, and learning to keep going anyway,” he added.

The single premiered this week with Alex Holcombe on Radio 1, joining a swathe of support for Corella at the station. Radio X have also proved strong champions, and Corella will join John Kennedy for a live session on Friday, September 25.

The album campaign began in March with the politically charged lead single and album opener “Rewire.” It was followed by “Simple Life,” a buoyant indie anthem that takes a lighter look at existence and revels in everyday joys.

Next came “Bitter End,” a scorching rock track that takes a snarling aim at the circus of life, and “Thunder Strike,” written with Circa Waves frontman Kieran Shudall, which captures the fun, chaotic and bumpy ride of life in a band.

Elsewhere on the record, Corella are at their most vulnerable on “Lost A Friend” and “All I Want.” The tracks dissect grief and loss, the difficulty of letting go, and learning to carry someone’s absence without losing yourself along the way.

“This track reflects on grief and distance we’ve all personally felt since being in the band, but also the strange beauty of the world continuing to move around you while you’re trying to process loss,” Smith said of “Lost A Friend.”

Smith describes “All I Want” as a deeply personal breakup song that he held very close to his heart while writing it. It reflects on the quiet aftermath of love and the strange mix of pride, loss and acceptance that comes with letting someone go.

The pace picks up with “Jump Scare,” an expansive rock track rich in soaring synths, harmonies and meaty riffs that captures the curiosity and frustration of inner-city life. “Wolf” then sees Corella conjuring a new character in a foreboding indie track, depicting someone who walks with a confident swagger but is full of insecurities behind closed doors.

The album closes with “Note To Self,” an intimate look at intense, messy feelings and the push and pull of desire, regret and longing. It brings A Beautiful World To Lose to a poignant close.

“These lyrics have more grit to them, more heart, and we knew we had to be willing to make ourselves more vulnerable,” Smith said of the record.
