Texas-bred rock powerhouse, Cody Jasper has released his explosive new single “Dirty,” the latest preview of his forthcoming studio album Rock Is Dead, due out April 10th via Megaforce Records.
The track arrives with plenty of attitude. Speaking about the inspiration behind it, Cody Jasper describes “Dirty” as a deeply personal piece rooted in the aftermath of a toxic relationship. “It’s a personal song about a very toxic relationship I was in with a narcissist a relationship that ruined me but also forced me to look inward and figure out who I really was,” he explains.

“In the end, it brought me out on top.” Musically, Jasper wanted the production to match the weight of the subject matter: “I wanted it to sound dirty huge, distorted synth bass, fuzzed-out guitars, and amps that feel like they’re about to explode. It features one of the best guitar solos I think I’ve ever played. ‘Dirty’ is for anyone who’s been done dirty. It sounds like revenge.”
Rock Is Dead will be Cody Jasper’s third full-length record, and it’s shaping up to be his most ambitious and wide-ranging work to date.
The album was produced and engineered by Aleks von Korff whose credits include work with Muse, Coldplay, and U2 and was recorded at Red Room Studio, the home studio of Muse’s Matt Bellamy.
The 10-track collection spans alternative, hard rock, punk, classic rock, blues, and beyond, built on a foundation of raw performance and kinetic energy. Rather than locking into a single lane, Rock Is Dead takes listeners on a genre-defying journey that has something to offer rock fans of every stripe.
The album’s title track, also released as a single, has already turned heads across the music press. Billy Corgan called it “a banger,” while RIFF Magazine described it as “a swaggering middle finger” to the notion that rock is past its prime, adding: “Guitars push past their limits; amps threaten to blow and apologies are nowhere to be found. Jasper channels fire and soul into something that feels viscerally urgent”.

The guitar solo might remind you there’s still something worth fighting for.” Rock Is Dead also features a guest appearance from legendary guitarist Warren Haynes on the track “American Dream,” underscoring both the calibre of the project and the respect Jasper commands among his peers.
The broader critical response to Cody Jasper has been equally enthusiastic. Loudwire has called him “a breath of fresh air for those looking for that good ole’ rebellious rock ‘n’ roll sound,” while New Noise Magazine praised his combination of “loud guitars, outlaw swagger and a healthy dose of rock adventurism.”

Earmilk described his sound as “a modern mix of psych-rock, funk and Southern rock for an intoxicating sonic cocktail,” and All Music Magazine went further still, writing: “His particular brand of southern rock mixed with country and soul is something I’ve never heard done so well. Cody Jasper has unlocked the secret to mixing this combination of genres, and it is hot fire to see and hear.”
That sound didn’t emerge overnight. Since debuting in 2014, having first taken to the stage as a teenager, Jasper has spent over a decade sharpening his craft and carving out a distinctive voice in a crowded genre.

Raised on the blues grit and hard rock swagger of Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Otis Redding, Sly Stone, and Waylon Jennings, he has consistently pushed at the boundaries of what rock can and should be.
His music is rooted in classic American rock tradition but refuses to be confined by it prioritising feel, grit, and authenticity over trend-chasing, and rejecting the idea that rock must belong to a single sound, era, or aesthetic.
As his profile has grown, so too has the company he keeps on stage. Cody Jasper has shared the bill with Slash, Billy Gibbons, and Stone Temple Pilots, among others, delivering the kind of live performances that convert casual listeners into devoted fans.
Rock Is Dead is available to pre-save now. With “Dirty” making its case as one of the standout tracks on the record, the April 10th release date can’t come soon enough.
