Marty Friedman has shared a new single, 2 Rebeldes (Spanish Vocal), taken from his latest solo album Drama, which arrived in May 2024 via Frontiers Music Srl.
The track is out today with an official visualizer, and it lands as the guitarist unveils a fresh slate of live dates spanning South America this month, Korea in December, Los Angeles in January 2027 and a Live Drama run across the UK and Europe in April 2027.

Friedman describes the song as a deliberate outreach to Latin audiences. “2 Rebeldes is my love letter to all the Latin countries around the world. Each one has unique warm memories for me, but they share a common language, so I did a Spanish vocal song for everyone. Hal-Ca from Asterism will be singing this song with me on my Latin American tour.”
“When I think of a Japanese girl singing a song in Spanish written by an American dude in so many Latin countries, it makes me smile and think, Yeah, this is something Marty would do…”
That framing matters because Drama already sits among Friedman’s most expansive recent statements. Press around the album called out its cinematic reach and emotional scale, with Sonic Perspectives arguing that if his goal was to create one of his most important pieces of work in thirty years, mission accomplished, Metal Talk labelling Drama thrilling, inspirational and uplifting, and Loudwire noting how the record moves from epic fantasy thrill rides to love’s duality of heartache and joy.
2 Rebeldes (Spanish Vocal) extends that emotional palette into a bilingual live context rather than treating the Spanish vocal as a one-off bonus.
On record, Drama only slightly revisits the atmospheric colours of Friedman’s acclaimed 1992 album Scenes, then pushes them into modern, exotic mini-symphonies.

Tracks such as Illumination and Mirage were flagged for their sudden emotional force, while the wider set spotlights melodies, arrangements and motifs even more forcefully than much of his earlier solo catalogue.
The album was recorded in Italy with access to vintage guitars alongside his modern signature models, and mixed by Alexander Backlund and Jay Ruston before mastering by Koji Tanaka at Victor Creative Media in Tokyo.
The Spanish-vocal single also reconnects the Drama campaign to the road. Friedman is about to celebrate the 34th anniversary of Scenes across South America, then continues through Hero Rock Festival in Korea, two Los Angeles-area shows, and the Live Drama tour in the UK and Europe. From Cacophony with Jason Becker through his pivotal Megadeth years, Friedman has spent decades treating melody as a disruptive force rather than decoration.
Since moving to Japan in 2003 he has also become a household name beyond metal, appearing on hundreds of Japanese TV shows, composing the Japan Heritage Theme Song with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra after being appointed an Ambassador of Japan Heritage, and releasing the Tokyo Jukebox cover series that introduced Japanese songs to global rock audiences.

2 Rebeldes (Spanish Vocal) is out now via Frontiers Music Srl. Stream the single at ffm.to/martyfriedman-2rebeldes, watch the visualizer, order Drama at orcd.co/martyfriedmandrama, and follow the Scenes anniversary run through South America before Hero Rock Festival, the January LA dates and Live Drama across the UK and Europe in April 2027.
For an artist whose solo catalogue already stretches from Dragon’s Kiss in 1988 through fifteen albums and multi-platinum recognition across dozens of countries, today’s single is less a late add-on than a bridge between Drama’s studio ambition and the rooms he is about to walk into.
Spanish vocals, a Latin American tourmate from Asterism, Scenes anniversary sets and a European Live Drama itinerary all point the same way: Friedman is still treating geography, language and melody as parts of one restless project.
