Swedish Earth Music artist. Gaeya has announced her new EP Growth, set for release on June 19th to coincide with the Midsummer celebrations.

To mark the occasion, she has shared brand new single ‘Higher Ground’ – a soaring, optimistic track that fuses ethereal synths with a commanding tribal rhythm, anchored by Gaeya’s expansive, wide-reaching vocals.

‘Higher Ground’ arrived today, April 30th, timed to the ancient festival of Walpurgis Night. The track is a call to action – a cleansing of the world’s most catastrophic trends in pursuit of a safer, healthier future. It also marks a personal rebirth in Gaeya’s own musical journey, arriving five years on from her debut EP Awakening.

The accompanying video was filmed on Mount Teide in Tenerife, where Gaeya performs amid the volcano’s raw, ancient power. She uses the location as a symbol of transformation – not suppressing what we feel, but channelling that force into growth rather than destruction.

“Fire is one of the most powerful forces of transformation,” Gaeya explains. “By burning away the old, we create fertile ground from the ashes – soil rich with the nutrients needed for what is yet to come.”

She continues: “This is why ‘Higher Ground’ is released during the ancient spring fire festival – known as Walpurgis Night, Beltane, or Valborg – a sacred turning point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. A time to welcome the light and set intentions for the future.”

For Gaeya, the single is ultimately about courage and letting go. “It is about having the courage to move through fear – to release the past, to let go, and step forward onto new ground.

Even in the darkest moments, whether in the world or within ourselves, we always have a choice. A choice to release what is no longer aligned with our path. A choice to turn toward what is good. To choose love. To choose something new.”

The Growth EP builds upon the acclaimed Awakening EP, released in 2021 during the pandemic. That record captured a first wave of collective awareness – a moment of questioning what we truly want from our lives. Growth represents the next chapter in that ongoing journey.

“That period left a deep imprint, and in many ways the process has continued,” says Gaeya. “The world we live in today is still asking us to make choices – inviting us, and sometimes pushing us, to grow. With Growth, my hope is to offer support along that path.”

She describes the EP as exploring a universal human experience – the path of re-alignment. “Often, the times when we grow the most are not the ones that feel the easiest or most pleasant. Yet it is precisely through these moments of challenge that we gain the tools and inner strength to meet ourselves and the world with new awareness.”

“Life moves in cycles,” she adds, “and to me, Growth represents the second phase – the stage that unfolds just before a deeper transformation, a paradigm shift.”

Musically, the EP is a striking blend of past and present. Produced by Anders Rane, Gaeya pulls from the sonics of her Nordic ancestry while propelling her sound forward with a rich tapestry of electronics.

Lead track ‘Different In My Time’ opens with an enthralling chant inspired by the ancient joik singing of the Sámi people and the kulning tradition – the ancient herding call of the Nordic regions.

From there, Gaeya delivers her determined message in English as euphoric synths build and surge around her. It is a compelling statement of intent.

‘Emptiness’ follows as a lush synth pop track, focused on forging personal development and forward momentum. The EP then closes with ‘The Lucky Ones’ – a glorious, glacial pop track that pushes for progressive change, and the acceptance that the power to create a brighter future rests firmly in our own hands.

Gaeya is one of Sweden’s most distinctive and internationally forward-moving artists. Her unique artistic language – which she calls Earth Music – blends electronic pop, primal voice, and Nordic mysticism into immersive experiences that are both cinematic and deeply personal.

Live, her performances are described as enchanting and boundary-breaking, where silence, energy, and atmosphere carry as much weight as sound itself.

Over recent years, Gaeya has built a significant international platform through tours across the United States, South Africa, and Europe. She has collaborated with Grammy-winning songwriter Rob Davis, British DJ duo Kudeta, and producer James Bright.

She was also selected for an artist residency at Green Box Arts in Colorado Springs, where she performed at the Ent Center for the Arts, appeared on American television, and created original works for one of James Turrell’s celebrated Skyspaces.

Beyond music, Gaeya is the founder of WE ARE NATURE Festival, the GAEYA Tipi Tour, the Tell Us Podcast, and the FIND Foundation – an initiative supporting rewilding, regenerative practices, and the protection of Indigenous lands, cultures, and creative expression. Her mission is to guide people back to nature, reconnect them with their inner power, and cultivate a shared vision of a future where humanity lives in harmony with the Earth.
