Albert Bouchard of Blue Öyster Cult Releases Second Interactive Imaginos Graphic Novel

Albert Bouchard

Albert Bouchard, founding member of legendary rock band Blue Öyster Cult, has announced the release of Imaginos II, the second interactive graphic novel in the ongoing Imaginos series, in partnership with Deko Entertainment.

The release marks another major chapter in a creative saga that has spanned decades, with Bouchard continuing to translate the late Sandy Pearlman’s visionary storytelling into new and evolving formats – this time bringing it further into the digital age with a fully immersive, interactive experience.

Blue Öyster Cult needs little introduction to rock fans. The original lineup, which featured Albert Bouchard as a founding member, sold millions of albums for Columbia Records and produced some of rock’s most enduring anthems.

“(Don’t Fear) the Reaper” remains one of the genre’s most recognisable tracks, while “Burning for You” reached number one on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.

Bouchard himself contributed to songwriting and lead vocals on some of the band’s most celebrated material, including “Cities on Flame With Rock and Roll.”

Beyond his work with Blue Öyster Cult, Bouchard has dedicated a significant portion of his career to the Imaginos project – an ambitious, sprawling concept rooted in the surreal writings of Sandy Pearlman.

Having already completed the first Imaginos trilogy, Bouchard has consistently shepherded these feverish visions through their many incarnations, from the original sonic explorations into print form with the release of the Imaginos I graphic novel.

Now, Imaginos II builds on that foundation in remarkable fashion. The new interactive graphic novel recounts the second third of the Imaginos story, weaving its narrative through all 14 songs from Bouchard’s Imaginos II – Bombs Over Germany album.

It is not simply a graphic novel in the traditional sense – it functions as a fully connected multimedia experience, linking readers directly to all 14 tracks alongside never-before-seen videos.

The package also includes a download card for the digital version, allowing fans to engage with the interactive experience across computer, phone, or tablet.

It is the kind of release that blurs the lines between music, visual art, and storytelling in a way that feels entirely in keeping with the Imaginos concept itself.

Bouchard has spoken about what makes this release stand apart from what has come before. “These graphic novels expand on the saga of Imaginos, which is itself an extremely expandable story,” he explains. “The videos expand upon both the comic and the songs, making this the most complete version of the Imaginos story to date.”

One highlight of the release is the inclusion of “Three Sisters,” featuring fellow Blue Öyster Cult co-founder Buck Dharma. The track has a history that stretches back further than many fans might realise.

Written during the sessions for the Fire of Unknown Origin album, it was originally intended for a subsequent Blue Öyster Cult release but never made it to vinyl at the time. Its inclusion here finally gives the song the platform it was always intended to have.

Bouchard has shared the story behind Dharma’s involvement. “When I approached Buck to contribute to the track, he told me he was delighted because he always loved the song.”

It is a moment that connects the Imaginos project back to the heart of Blue Öyster Cult’s classic era, and a reminder of just how deep the creative well between these two musicians runs.

The full video for “Three Sisters” is available to watch now on YouTube, offering a taste of the expanded visual world that the Imaginos II graphic novel inhabits.

The Imaginos albums as a whole feature reworked and reimagined versions of classic Blue Öyster Cult material, giving familiar tracks new life within the context of Pearlman’s mythology.

Songs such as “Astronomy,” “E.T.I.,” “Godzilla,” and “Cities on Flame With Rock and Roll” all appear across the series, reframed and reinterpreted for a new era.

For those looking to explore the full project, ReImaginos, Imaginos II – Bombs Over Germany, and Imaginos III – Mutant Reformation are all available to order now via Deko Entertainment. A fourth instalment, Imaginos IV, is also in the pipeline, with more details expected soon.

It is a body of work that reflects both the ambition and the tenacity of Albert Bouchard – a musician who, decades on from helping to build one of rock’s most distinctive catalogues with Blue Öyster Cult, continues to push the Imaginos story into bold new territory.
