Manchester psych band Strange Dream will release their new single Levanter on Friday 23 October 2026, marking a fresh start for a group that is now taking its music out of the studio and onto the stage for the first time.
The single takes its name from the warm wind that blows in from the east across the Mediterranean. In Paulo Coelho’s novel The Alchemist, the Levanter is treated almost as a character in its own right, something that can be felt, bargained with and followed, but never quite held.

Strange Dream borrow that idea for the song. Levanter is built on a hypnotic, driving groove, circling around a presence that is always close by but never seen, known only by the mark she leaves behind.
It is a fitting introduction to the band’s sound, which blends hypnotic rhythms, jangling guitars and reverb-soaked melodies into something that feels both timeless and modern. Layered guitars and hazy atmospheres sit on top of grooves designed to pull the listener in and keep them there.
The band draw influence from Allah Las, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Night Beats, and fans of 60s garage rock, modern psychedelia, The Black Angels and The Velvet Underground should find plenty to enjoy.

Strange Dream began in 2023 as a studio project, focusing on writing and self-producing a handful of singles. After a short break from recording, the band have returned with renewed creative focus and a new goal of playing live.
The line-up features Joshua on rhythm guitar and vocals, Hurricane on lead guitar and vocals, Young David on bass and Adam on drums.
Their earlier releases have already found an audience. The band have been played on DKFM Shoegaze Radio, which said of their single Mirrors that it “was just so damn hook-capable, hard to avoid”. They have also been featured in Bread Records’ The Wrap.

Now the focus is on the stage. Strange Dream have built a high-energy live set around their recorded material and are looking for support slots and festival opportunities in Manchester and across the North West, with an eye on taking their music to live audiences around the rest of the UK.
Levanter is out on Friday 23 October 2026. Ahead of release, fans can follow Strange Dream on Spotify, and the band’s earlier singles are available now on Bandcamp.
