Cupid Theory, the Los Angeles-based storytelling and artist services company, has announced the addition of Shelby Short as Artist Manager.
Short joins the company alongside his existing roster of Not Enough Space, Pretty Pity, Summer Hoop, and VCTMS, marking one of the most significant expansions in the company’s history.

Founded by Kyle Hulett in 2021 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cupid Theory has grown steadily into a recognised force across both the music and entertainment industries.
The company offers a wide range of services, including paid social advertising, CRM and e-commerce marketing, digital publicity, music distribution, and artist management.
With Shelby Short now on board, the Cupid Theory management roster expands to include Attack Attack!, Colorblind, Kami Kehoe, Not Enough Space, Pretty Pity, Savage Hands, Summer Hoop, and VCTMS.

Shelby Short brings over 15 years of multifaceted experience to his new role at Cupid Theory. His career began in Atlanta in 2007, where he started out as a promoter before transitioning to life on the road in 2009 alongside The Chariot.
What followed was more than a decade of touring in a variety of capacities – Tour Manager, Production Manager, Front of House Engineer, and Tech – working with some of the most well-regarded names in heavy music.
Those credits include The Used, Falling In Reverse, PVRIS, The Plot In You, and Chiodos, among many others.

Alongside his touring career, Short has also built a reputation as a respected regional promoter, operating across the Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville markets in Florida. It is that combination of road experience and regional industry knowledge that makes his appointment to Cupid Theory a particularly compelling one.
The artists arriving with Short are far from unknown quantities. Not Enough Space surpassed 25 million streams on their debut record within just four months of release, and have earned festival slots at Louder Than Life, Welcome To Rockville, and Sonic Temple.
Pretty Pity completed over 60 shows across a full US run in support of their debut EP, and are set to perform at Summer School and Summerfest later this year.

Summer Hoop closed out 2025 with her highest-streaming song to date and is currently supporting Arankai on a run of sold-out shows. VCTMS, meanwhile, hit one million streams within two weeks of releasing their latest EP and are currently serving as direct support on a near-sold-out tour with Jiluka.
Collectively, these four acts arrive at Cupid Theory with real momentum already behind them.
For Short, joining Cupid Theory represents a natural progression for a career built on versatility and a consistent drive to develop the artists around him. He has spoken openly about what the move means to him.

“I’m excited to be a part of expanding an already incredible team at Cupid Theory,” Short said. “Can’t wait to see where our combined knowledge and resources will push the team as we continue to grow together.”
Kyle Hulett, founder of Cupid Theory, was equally enthusiastic about welcoming Short to the company. His comments speak to the values that have quietly become central to how Cupid Theory operates.
“Shelby is cut from the same cloth that all of us at Cupid Theory embody,” Hulett said. “Self-started empowerment of others, experience in many positions, and unyielding dedication to his craft. I am deeply excited to welcome another one of our own to the table.”
Since its founding, Cupid Theory’s digital division has been retained by major record labels to lead digital strategy and execute high-impact campaigns on behalf of their rosters.

The company has played a significant role in campaigns for artists including Doja Cat, Alex Warren, Forrest Frank, Knocked Loose, Bad Omens, Poppy, Spiritbox, Polyphia, and The Story So Far – spanning chart-topping releases, e-commerce launches, and sold-out tours.
Their e-commerce work has also driven considerable results for artists and brands such as EPIC The Musical, Blackbear, The Used, NOFX, Ghostemane, 100 Gecs, and the Crime Junkie Podcast.
In 2025 alone, the Cupid Theory team generated over $7 million in attributed paid advertising revenue, delivering an 18x return on ad spend.
Building on that digital foundation, Hulett has expanded Cupid Theory’s focus to place greater emphasis on storytelling – through artist management, creator marketing, brand partnerships, digital publicity, and distribution.

The company’s work in this space reflects a broader ambition to help artists build careers with genuine longevity, not just short-term visibility.
Short’s appointment fits squarely within that vision. His appointment reflects Cupid Theory’s continued momentum heading into 2026, as the company sharpens its focus on meaningful artist development and culturally resonant storytelling at a global scale.
With Shelby Short now part of the team, Cupid Theory enters the new year with one of its strongest and most experienced lineups to date – and a roster of artists well-positioned to make considerable noise in the months ahead.
